Oskar-Morgenstern-Medal 2025

Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work – but who will shape the organizations of the future? This question lies at the heart of the research conducted by Phanish Puranam, recipient of the Oskar Morgenstern Medal 2025. On 9 October 2025, he will be honored for his outstanding scientific contributions. The award ceremony will take place from 2:00–3:00 pm in the Sky Lounge of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics.

Following the ceremony, the Faculty invites you to the Public Lecture given by the awardee. Prof. Puranam will share insights into the future of human–algorithm collaboration and explore how organizations can remain human-centric in the digital age.

The capacity to organize ourselves to pursue a variety of goals is one of the oldest and most powerful technologies our species has developed. Phanish Puranam will draw on his research to describe how organizations and their designs are being impacted by another powerful, far more recently developed technology: Artificial Intelligence (AI). He will highlight the challenges that lie ahead for organizations when adopting AI technologies in a manner that is both goal centric and human-centric.
